Kurt, the Kitchen Nazi, is our busy prep cook in the back. He does not venture up front very much. He is a busy guy, and someone that we are very glad that is in our life. We would be in serious trouble without his efforts.
Bryson is our dishwasher. He has to hustle quite a bit. He is really a good kid. Many of our customers already know Bryson and fondly speak about him. We hope that he is around a long time.
Shayne is our man of many coats. He preps all of the veggies and the meat for the front. You will also find Shayne
helping Dalton at the grill during busy times, running the register, rolling silvy, and just about whatever else is needed. Shayne is our newest employee, and has just been thrown into the mix, but everyone thinks that he will work out just fine.
Calder is our centerfielder. He roams around doing all sorts of odd jobs. He is such a good kid, too. He rolls silvy, busses tables, runs register, carries a few dishes and so on. He is Shelly's right-hand man. We seriously do not know what we would do without him filling in the gaps.
This just leaves our wait staff Tasha and Christi. Tasha is our new waitress and she is getting the hang of things and catching on pretty quick. She is not a bad waitress, either. Christi is our other waitress. However, many of you will recognize her from when she helped us up front over Christmas Break. Boy, were we grateful for that. She passed the grade with flying colors. Christi has become a winner and a fan of the customers here at Neighbors. We can't beat that! Speed Bump Shelly really thought that she was fantastic! And, one thing that we have noticed about them (really everybody) is that they care. They care about the service they provide, the food that they serve, the people that they serve.
They care about Neighbors Cafe. We are very blessed to have the crew that we do have now.
Amanda is the one that the customers never see. She is our little baker, and boy can she bake. She is always whipping up something good for desert. Check out the selection. And her cinnamon rolls. Yummy!
Neighbors Cafe is a warm, neighborly place to eat. Customers can choose from a wide variety of breakfasts, lunches, and deserts. We want our customers leaving happy and full, and anxious to come back.
Shelly tends the store managing the day-to-day operations at Neighbors. Shelly, or Speed Bump as the help calls her, participates in cooking, baking, bussing and waiting tables, and pretty much whatever else is required, including conversing with the customers. Shelly has to leave twice a day usually to tend to her disabled husband, Cameron, or Cam, as many know him. He no longer drives but he sure does miss being down at "Neighbs" and shooting the breeze with the customers. He enjoyed that so much. (We should add that he enjoyed it more than the help as they were always complaining about him being in the way!) That's just wrong, isn't it?
An old favorite customer that we miss dearly.
Wow! It seems impossible to believe. Shelly and Cameron opened Neighbors Cafe in November,1997. That is over 18 years ago.
Father and son bonding and having some fun at the counter.
Dalton is our grill cook. He is a great young kid. And, he kicks it up on the grill, too. Sit behind him sometime and you will see what I mean. We hope that Dalton is with us for a long time.
It won't be that long before you and Kurt reach your retirement age. Ha, Ha.
